STEM

The STEM Department is a fully integrated curriculum for 9th through 12th-grade students. The four-year curriculum includes Engineering, Robotics, and Computer Programming courses. Working collaboratively with the Science and Mathematics Departments, the STEM Department offers students the opportunity to engage in rigorous and relevant content while fostering a spirit of inquiry and collaboration. The students grow and develop as they equip themselves with new tools, acquire new perspectives, and gain the critical thinking skills necessary for innovation.

STEM Department Mission Statement:
"Technology that pollutes can also cleanse, production which amasses can also distribute justly, on condition that the ethic of respect for life and human dignity, for the rights of today’s generations and those to come prevails. This requires firm points of reference and inspiration: a clear knowledge of creation as a work of God’s provident wisdom and the awareness of human dignity and responsibility in the plan of creation."
– Pope Saint John Paul II

Members of the Saint John Paul the Great STEM Department are committed to fostering in students the wonder inherent in science and mathematics while teaching them to reason rigorously and logically to attain relevant truths about the physical world and the use of technology and innovation while maintaining the unity between faith and reason, thus respecting:

  • the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church
  • scientific and philosophical principles
  • the natural moral law
  • the dignity of the human person
  • the common good of man

  • and a sense of personal responsibility for the direction science and technology will take in the course of their lives.
