Visual Arts

"Art must make perceptible, and as far as possible attractive, the world of the spirit, of the invisible, of God.  It must therefore translate into meaningful terms that which in itself is ineffable."  – Pope Saint John Paul II, Letter to Artists, 1999.

Our Patron says that Beauty is the special vocation of artists.  He defines beauty as the visible form of the good. But how do artists make visible the invisible?  They begin this process of giving aesthetic form to ideas conceived in the mind by developing their talents and their craft and placing these at the service of the larger community.

Visual arts students at St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School develop interdisciplinary crafts of Drawing, Painting, Photography, Sculpting, and Clayworks. Their work is in demand throughout the year for a variety of school activities and events. It is also displayed in areas throughout the school, most prominently in the main hall between the library and auditorium.
