JP Track Teams Place Second and Third at Catholic States

The John Paul Track and Field team participated in the Virginia Catholic State Championship last Saturday with the Boys team finishing as Runner-Ups and the Girls team finishing Third overall.  Only 3 points separated the top two boys' teams with the title coming down to the final event of the day.  The boys' team was led by the first-place finishes of Chinuorumogu Nnamani in the Discus and James Bertram in the 3200m run.  Other top finishers for the boys included Armaan Dhillon 2nd place finish in the High Jump, Elijah Thompson and Augustine Howard 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the 800m, the 2nd place 4x800m relay team (Gabe Xantus, Lucas Orlando, Thompson, Howard), James Bertram’s 3rd place finish in the 1600m, and the 3rd place 4x400m relay team (Nick Bouril, Alex Everson, Thompson, Howard).  On the girls side, Isobella Jameson's victory in the Discus and Chichi Obasi’s 2nd place finishes in the Long Jump, 100m, 400m, and 3rd in the 200 were the top scores for the JP girls team.  Sarah Dake’s 3rd place in the 3200 added to the points total as well. Congratulations to the team on these top finishes and performances at this meet.  The team will conclude the season next Saturday at the VISAA State Championships in Richmond.
