Longtime Friend of John Paul the Great Passes, Leaving an Enduring Legacy

This week, the JP community mourns the loss of Gerry Hoffman, a longtime friend and supporter of John Paul the Great High School. Gerry and his wife Peggy Hoffman were two of the first volunteers at John Paul the Great. They met with Sister Mary Jordan, O. P., about a new Catholic high school being built in Prince William County and quickly became steadfast supporters of the school. Gerry and Peggy opened the Wolf Den, and sold after-school concessions for three years, recruiting many friends and neighbors from the Four Seasons Retirement Community to come serve with them at JP. Gerry organized the “Four Season Scholarship”, which provided financial support for incoming students in the school’s initial years.

Our prayers are with Peggy Hoffman and the Hoffman family at this time! As our school community prays for and celebrates the life of such a great man, we recognize with immense gratitude the ways in which the faithfulness and generosity of Gerry Hoffman contributed to the building and growth of the school we love.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
