Dominican Leadership

We are privileged to have the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia--the "Nashville Dominicans" leading and teaching at our school. Acclaimed for their expertise in Catholic education and their academic and spiritual leadership, they have spent the last 155 years enlightening young people's minds and hearts with the Truth of Christ. The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation presently serve in 43 schools, teaching more than 15,000 students from preschool through college.

Our Current Dominican Sisters:

Sister Mary Veronica Keller, O.P. Head of School at Saint John Paul the Great, is the seasoned educator and administrator chosen by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia to work with Arlington Bishop Michael Francis Burbidge to lead our school.

 

Sister Alexandra Prosser, O.P. is the chair of our Religion Department. She has been a Sister for about 20 years, most of those involved in teaching the faith (and a wide variety of other subjects!) to middle and high school students.  She has a B.A. in Politics and Philosophy from The Catholic University of America and an M.A. in Theology and Christian Ministry from Franciscan University.

 

Sister Ann Dominic Mahowald, O.P. is the Assistant Principal of Student Life and Discipline. Sister Ann Dominic joined our teaching faculty at Saint John Paul the Great in 2008 after graduating from the Catholic University of America.  In 2010, she entered religious life with the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, returning to teach at Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School in August 2015.

 

Sister Malia Grace Reed, O.P. is originally from Louisiana where she received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  Before entering the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in 2010, Sister Malia Grace taught middle and high school science in a small Catholic school also named for Saint John Paul the Great.  As a Sister, she has taught both middle and high school science and completed an M.A. in Teaching at Aquinas College. Sister Malia Grace developed and teaches our Freshman Seminar course, along with Biology and Bioethics courses.
