It was the greatest of privileges to be present with him in life, and in death. Being one among thousands in St. Peter’s Square during his funeral Mass to be chanting “Santo Subito!" (Sainthood Now!) makes being part of the first high school in America named “Pope John Paul the Great” seem nothing less than a generous act of Providence.”

Ms. Kelly Everett

I am at John Paul the Great in order to guide our students as they come to know with certainty Christ’s presence in their lives, to walk with them as they integrate this fact into every aspect of their lives, and to rejoice with them as they live daily knowing that He will over abundantly fulfill the deep desires of their hearts. I beg for the salvation of their souls and ask that God might use me to make it so. And, in case you’ve never heard of a degree in “Great Books” (many haven’t!) it is the intensive study, analysis, and critique of the seminal works of Western philosophical, theological, scientific, and literary thought focused on seminar discussions.”
Ms. Annemarie Francis
Athletic Tranier, School Nurse
In Her Own Words: "As a product of a Catholic high school education, I live out the values and lessons learned back then, balancing academics and sports within the Catholic faith which supports the development of the whole person. I am excited to be sharing those ideals with our students. It was an honor to attend the Papal Mass at Nationals Stadium in April 2008, witnessing the blessing of our schools tabernacle. It was one sign on His path for me to follow.”
Dr. Richard Gildersleeve

Together in communion with Bishop Loverde and Pope Benedict XVI we live veritas - truth in the Gospel of Life and in the New Evangelization envisioned and taught by our great patron the Venerable Pope John Paul II.”

Mr. Chris Howe

In His Own Words: "With the proliferation of new technologies and subsequent ethical dilemmas in the health care field, it is my honor and privilege to help prepare the students at John Paul both spiritually and academically for the challenges ahead. A truly Christian morality centers upon the understanding of the human person as one with inviolable dignity and immeasurable worth. I embrace the opportunity to incorporate this fundamental Christian tenet within all academic endeavors. Pope John Paul II expressed that faith and reason are not mutually exclusive, and that math, science and the arts are different aspects of the same great Truth. My family and I look forward to becoming part of the growing family at JP the Great

Inspired by Christ’s love for our young people, I find it to be a privilege and a joy to support and encourage our students on their spiritual and academic journey as well as act as a conduit to their parents during their time at JP. In His Own Words: “I consider myself extremely fortunate to serve as Director of Guidance and Counseling at Pope John Paul the Great, and look forward to helping each student navigate high school and cope with adolescence, while also preparing them for college. I hope that, in my service to the school, I can in some small way replicate Pope John Paul II’s gift for communicating Catholic doctrine to young people. In particular, I am reminded of a homily the Pontiff presented in September 1997, before young people in Bologna, in which he commented on a performance by Bob Dylan of his folksong, “Blowin’ in the Wind.” Pope John Paul II stated, “A representative of yours has just stated . . . that the answer to the questions of your life is blowing in the wind. It is true!” He then placed this wind within a Christian context by redefining it as “the breath and voice of the [Holy] Spirit. . .” I pray that the window of my heart remains open, so that I may be receptive to the breath of the Holy Spirit, hear its voice, and accept its wisdom and insight.”

In His Own Words: “A colleague abroad has pointed out that Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School is opening its doors at a time when many Catholic schools across the nation are consolidating or closing. Even the school architecture speaks of God, inviting contemplation. What a privilege to be among educators and students whose work will help others encounter Christ, bringing life to the new building and in time, light to the nation.”

In Her Own Words:I'm blessed to be a part of the mission here at Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School. The opportunity to practice my faith while caring for these young adults is an honor and privilege. Saint Josemaria Escriva once said: "Without an architect you wouldn't build a good house for your life on earth. How then, without a director, can you hope to build the palace of your sanctification for your eternity in heaven?" The truth students learn here at John Paul the Great allows them to create a roadmap for their lives. They will leave with a formed conscience and a clear path to heaven!”

I am a firm believer that through the study of Latin one can come to know and love God better. St. Augustine himself, referring to a philosophical work of the classical author Cicero, says: ‘that book shifted my passion and my prayers to you yourself, Lord.’ Using Latin as the medium, I look forward to taking each day with my students as an opportunity to draw closer to the Sacred Mind and Heart of Jesus by the grace and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
